I bought the domain name through godaddy.com when it came to set up my pythonanywhere webapp with my domain name was simple. Add a CNAME record pointing to the url provided by pythonanywhere. I added the CNAME record www pointing to xxx.pythonanywhere.com. Now, my problem comes when trying to type mydomain.com without the www, it does not redirects to the webesite. Godaddy support where unable to provide further help without an IP address, which pythonanywhere does not provide. Help, please!

You need to setup a redirect from yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com at your dns registrar (eg where you had registered for your domain name).

I believe that Godaddy can certainly setup redirects to a url and not an IP address. For example, see this Godaddy article.
