Risk of PythonAnywhere discontinuing services?

Hi,

New PythonAnywhere user here. I'm currently on a free account but am very impressed with your services and plan to upgrade in the next month or so. I'm also considering using your services for my work under a separate account (e.g. Startup).

I know you have been around for a number of years - I'm just wondering if there is any chance this company will disappear in the near future. What would happen to running web apps if you went out of business? Do you see that happening anytime soon?

Hopefully not a dumb question. Would love to host websites with you over the long term but am hesitant to not use AWS directly, etc.

Thanks!

We're certainly not planning to go bust :-)

For the last five years or so, we've been able to run the service without any external investment -- that is, over the course of each year, the amount of money coming in is enough to cover our expenditure. So you don't need to worry about venture capitalists pulling the plug, or anything like that.

Beyond that, I guess we can't really say -- things seem to be going well for us as a business, but like any company, we could suddenly have a crash in sales for some reason or other. Still, I can't think of any case where that is likely to happen any time soon, and if it did, we'd certainly expect to be able to give you significant warning so that you'd be able to export your code and data.

Thanks so much for the quick response. Yeah maybe that was a dumb question but I appreciate hearing more about how things are going in the business. Sounds great. Will continue with my plans. I'm really enjoying the service so far- never experienced deployment this quickly before.

All the best, Ben

Very glad to hear you like it :-D Just let us know if you hit any problems or have any questions.
