The dashboard/web page has a link to var/logs to display older log files. It used to be that these logs displayed with an edit icon for conveniently viewing them. It seems that now I have to open a bash console and use vim? I'm very rusty on vim so this is much less convenient.

Was it intentional to drop the edit icons?

There is no icon if the file is very big. You need to download big files or open them in the editor in the console.
