Why do paused daily tasks continue to run?

Do you mean that the tasks are being started again at the scheduled time, or that ones that were already running continue to run after you've paused them? Pausing a task just stops it from being scheduled in the future -- if you want to kill any running instances, you can use the "Running tasks" list at the bottom of the "Tasks" page.
