Alternate payment method (PayPal broken?)

Hi again, I tried to upgrade my acc to "Hacker" (but I think I'll be a noob forever ^^). But PayPay seems not to work for me. I get "your reqest could net be handled, go back to vendor". Maybe there goes sth wrong?

Are there any other payment methods planned, not a big fan of PP?

grz

Bitcoin?

We're not big fans of PP, either and we'd like to move to something else. At the moment, though our focus is on stability and features. Bitcoin has been jokingly suggested as an alternative, but I suspect we'll go the more traditional route first.

any ETA for another payment option?

No ETA, but I did forget to mention that we do take yearly subscriptions (also through PayPal, but the single payments seem to work better). As a little extra inducement, if you go for the yearly payment, you only have to pay for 10 months. Drop us an email at support@pythonanywhere.com if you'd like to do that.

Just for reference, would you feel happier / less happy / the same with Google Checkout than Paypal?

Google Checkout would be nice

I also want to upgrade to Hacker but also get an error message via PayPal. Tried a week ago and now and have the same problem. When will this be fixed? PayPal tells me, that my request could not be handled I I should go back tp the vendor.

There is a problem with PayPal for people based in Germany -- unfortunately they don't seem to be willing to fix it, and the error message they give is unhelpful. Might that be the problem you're seeing?

If so, then unfortunately we can't do monthly billing for you. We could set up an annual one -- you get 12 months for the price of 10 -- and as that is obviously a real commitment, if you want to try out the features of the plan you're signing up for before paying, we could give you a week free trial.

I'll take a week free trial...oh, wait...that won't work. You already know I'm committed!!

a2j -- possibly we should give you a discount if you don't tell any jokes ;-)

That would be funny... ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°

whimper

Hey everybody, any news on this issue? I would really like to purchase a 12bucks subscription but can't... A full years payment in unfortunately not an option... As a student I just can't afford it... I just sent feedback to paypal and said - wtf fix this or help pythonanywhere

Thanks for chasing PayPal :-)

We're actually just finishing off the work on direct credit card payments, using Stripe. It's going through our test system now, and we're hoping to get it released this week. We'll drop you a line when it's ready.

Wow that's great news! Thank you!

please do, I need to purchase an upgrade and I'd appreciate the alternative method as soon as possible. Thanks

We're planning to push it live at 6am UTC tomorrow. Wish us luck :-)

We're also trying to purchase subscription but would need options other than PayPal (Amex card is best).

Please let us know whenever credit card payment is available; we'd like to start paying ASAP.

Thank you.

It's live now! Kudos to sasogeek for upgrading before we'd even announced it :-)

Yohooo!!! Thank you guys! I'm in now :D

Fantastic, thanks!

hahaha yosh! :) but i have a problem though, it still says i have 500mb? sup with that? where do i see the 5gb?

Edit: Okay, no worries guys, i think it took a while to update those values. it's all set now :) thumbs up!

Yup, it looks like the diskspace-updating system had a hiccup over the weekend, but it's running properly now. Thanks for confirming it's working!

I am trying to switch from PayPal to the credit card payment option. My card is getting declined, I've double and triple checked that I'm entering the right data. However, when I enter the zip code, the form automatically enters the nearest major metro area, but that is not what is on my billing address. Further, there is no place to enter the state. I have tried adding it to the city (that I manually entered), with no luck. I'm guessing the lack of a state is the reason it's not working. It seems like there is a spot for it, with up/down arrows for selecting, but there's no field to enter data in.

I'm using Firefox 29.0.1 on Windows 7.

I don't think our credit card provider verifies the entire address. I believe they only care that the zip is correct. Also, unless the States uses non-unique zip codes, the state is unnecessary.

+1 for bitcoin

We can accept Bitcoin now -- but only for annual payments, because we have to process it manually at the moment, and it takes a bit of work. The plus side is that you get a discount for paying for a year up front -- twelve months for the price of ten. If you'd like to switch, drop us a line using the "Send feedback" link.
