Does the task get interrupted, or is there a smooth transition and just a slowdown? I really couldn't afford an interruption with certain things, though a slowdown would be manageable.

What happens if a long running scheduled task ends up in the tarpit in the middle of running?
On a free account you can have a scheduled task running for maximum of 2h, then the process will be killed (on a paid account it's 12h). If your processes are tarpitted, there will be a slowdown.
