Something odd has happened in the space time continuum! Today, I noticed that none of yesterday's command work is showing up in .bash_history. I had two consoles running and this morning when I opened them they seemed to have reset to my home directory with old bash history.

Any clues, anyone?

I haven't worked out how bash history keeps and decides to clear out some stuff sometimes and not others. I've noticed its selective amnesia on my personal laptop, my work machine and in my PythonAnywhere account.
