Hi, if only have one app in my project is it still necessary to run collectstatic?

Do all my images need to be in the MEDIA_ROOT folder or can they be in separated folders inside the MEDIA_ROOT folder?

If you want you static files to be in the place where collectstatic puts them, then you need to run collectstatic. If you're happy serving them out of the app folder, then you don't need to run collectstatic.

As for whether to put your files in directories, that is up to you and how you want to arrange your files.
