Connecting my domain with the hosting (NS record)

Hi!
I've just setup a hacker account, but I'm having trouble linking the hosting to my domain. My DNS service doesn't allow for setting the CNAME or other settings, only "NS record" - I'm not sure what to put there. The support from them replied that I need to get this value from the hosting provider in order to link the domain to the hosting. Can someone advise on this?

Thanks!

Hmm, the NS record is how you tell a domain registrar where your name servers are -- that is, it's how you specify that you want to use a different DNS service for your domain.

Which registrar are you using? Perhaps I can dig up the appropriate bit of their docs.

Ah, I just realised you sent us a separate message via the "Send feedback" link, and you said what your registrar is there. Let me see if I can find the details.

Hmm, OK. If Google Translate is to be trusted, it looks like the people you're using to register your domain don't actually provide a DNS service -- just domain registration. This is unusual, but not completely unheard of.

So what you need is a DNS provider. They will provide name servers, and you'll need to set up the CNAME with them. Then you'll set up the NS records with the registrar to point to the DNS provider's name servers.

These guys look like a decent free DNS provider.

Thanks Giles, that's very helpful, as I'm not familiar with all these stuff. I'll do as you advised..
