A message appears stating that the maximum number of always-on tasks has been reached. By the way, where can I find out how many tasks are originally allowed? Does it depend on the subscription?

When you upgrade to a paid plan, always-on tasks are one of the "slider" features that you can adjust to your liking. On a basic Hacker plan it's by default 1 always-on task.
