I pretty sure the answer is "currently not possible." but I'm really wanting to build a real time chat application and I want to keep PythonAnywhere as my host. If SwampDragon.net is not possible is there another way to build a real time chat?

You're right. SwampDragon will not work. You'll have top implement your own chat using simple http requests for it to work on PythonAnywhere.
