Auto-renewed Lets Encrypt HTTPS certificate Error

I'm trying to setup the Lets Encrypt certificate but when I try and select it and save, I get "There was an error updating the certificate". Has anybody else had this error? Is there something else I need to configure to allow the cert. setup? Thanks in advance.

Could you send us a screenshot of the exact error that you're getting over email to support@pythonanywhere.com?

Tried it again today to recreate the problem but luckily it worked. Thanks for the reply.

Strange! I'm glad it's working now, anyway. If you hit any similar problems, just send us a screenshot.

Ah, wait -- I think I've tracked it down. Let's Encrypt was down for maintenance between 23:30 and 23:45 UTC last night -- just before you sent your message. Sounds like we need to surface that error to you in a more meaningful way. I've added that to our to-do list.

hey i am trying to enable Auto-renewed Lets Encrypt HTTPS certificate but i gives an error like this

Let's Encrypt was unavailable when we contacted their servers to get an HTTPS certificate for your domain name. Please try again later.

Please tell me how to enable it because its craeting a lot of trouble

It looks like you have hit a rate limit on Let's Encrypt because you were requesting too many certificates for the same domain. They have a limit of 5 times that you can do that per week. If you made all of the requests today, then you may have to wait a week for the rate limit to reset. If you've made them over the last few days, then you may only have to wait a few days.

Hey, i am having another problem that let's try ssl certificate is not working with bare domain

You have hit the same rate limit for your naked domain.

I am trying to enable Auto-renewed Lets Encrypt HTTPS certificate , following the instructions on this page 'https://help.pythonanywhere.com/pages/HTTPSSetup' however even though everything seems to have gone as planned, when i try to visit the site through https:// i get a ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT (every time). the http:// site works fine. Does anyone have an idea what i did wrong?

Hi, I have enabled the Let's Encrypt HTTPS certificate. it says it worked but when I go to the domain, it still says 'Not Secure'. Any idea why this issue is popping up?

@Priniotis -- sorry, I don't know how we missed your post back in May! It looks like you've solved the problem now, though.

@100007 -- it looks like you've already worked this out, but getting a certificate just means that your site will be available over HTTPS as well as HTTP. If you then visit the site using HTTP, you'll get the "Not secure" warning. To make sure that when someone visits over HTTP they are redirected to the secure site, you need to force HTTPS.
