Why do I have to use full name of my website with "www" inorder to access it ?

Hi guys, I had an app which was published in free tier before. But later I switched to a pain account and changed the app name from <username>.pythonanywhere.com to "www.xyz.com" (which is what I own as domain name). But, it is hosted correctly in my opinion. But I have to type whole www.xyz.com in order to open the site. Just typing "xyz.com" on chrome redirects it to random "xyz.com/xyzabc" I am not really sure what's the problem. Help me with this. Also the Cname thing was extremely confusing for me.

I purchased the domain name from godaddy and in that, I changed the CNAME record like this. In place of host I put www and in place of points to, I put "webapp-xxx.pythonanywhere.com" . Is this correct ? The documentation wasn't really appealing and clear. Kindly check.

Your CNAME setup looks correct.
